Little French Jacket

 progress of my LFJ...

1.have been reading Claire Shaeffer Couture Sewing  and  The Couture Cardigan Jacket

2.Enrolled in the Craftsy class  The Iconic Tweed Jacket  with Lorna Knight

3.Practiced making handworked buttonholes

4.Made my muslin to the best of my abilities ( tends to be awkward to pin one side of your body without having some distortion).

5. Cut out the fashion fabric single layer matching any patterns in the design. Note to self.....Black fabric is really hard to work with :(

6.stitched the seams and hand tacked all of the seams flat with the catchstitch.

Sewing galore!!!!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been sewing like crazy lately with new projects emerging almost daily. Just recently I finished making outdoor sofa cushions for a client of mine. These cushions (box cushions) were made out of white denim with piping around the top and bottom edges. The fabric was easy to sew with making my job a breeze. My Singer 401A slantomatic was a work horse going through in some instances 8-9 layers of this denim. She never gave up on me though and got the job done! I must say I am extremely pleased with how these cushions came out and delighted with how they look overall with the other decor.

With that major project out of the way, I have a few others that have been ongoing and are now getting some attention. First are the adorable aprons. My first was sort of a test run, as I had never made aprons before and developed my own pattern. I used a blue, green, and white patterned fabric for the base with a bias binding in green around the outside. The top layer, a striped green, blue, and white (to match the base) was pleated for a girly yet fun look. I finished this apron with a matching green belt loop that wrapped around and tied in the front. My second apron was a bit more on the shabby chic side. Made out of a drop cloth material, I decided to break out the Singer Futura CE150 embroidery machine. (Side note: I would like to eventually upgrade but seeing as my husband just updated the software and it runs great I think I will hold of for now.) Using an orange/ rayon thread I embroidered a customers name into the pocket. This apron was a different look than I normally do but I absolutely love it!!

Now for my last project of this post, my envelope pillow. Can I just say how much I LOVE this pillow. I made this as a test run for my own home and cant wait to start making more. This pillow is a 22 inch square envelope closure pillow with contrast piping around all edges. I used a cotton duck fabric in a lattice black and white pattern.  I think this provides a great contrast and pop of color to my living room and I cant wait to make more of these pillows for friends, family, and clients!

As always, ENJOY!
